All in heart

World Heart Day 2018

Did you know that World Heart Day is celebrated every year on the 29th of September? Cardiovascular disease accounts for nearly half of all non-communicable diseases, making it the world’s number one killer. World Heart Day strives to educate individuals that by controlling their risk factors at least 80% of early death from stroke and heart disease could be entirely avoided. Risk factors include poor eating habits, lack of exercise, smoking and excessive drinking.

From Medical Meltdowns to the Magic of Meditation

Hi guys - I can't believe it's been almost 2 months since I last wrote...a lot hit me at once and I needed a little writing hiatus. Super grateful to Allison for stepping in and sharing her Until Further Notice....Celebrate Everything piece which came at a time I needed it most! Taking a break from writing specifically isn't typical for me - usually one of my first go to's for processing tough stuff is through writing. So let me briefly fill you in on what's been doing on and how it brings me to my topic for this month...meditation!

Going Primarily Pescatarian & Plant Based!

Happy July, Loving Lately readers! I honestly don't know where the month of June went! I've had many different ideas for posts floating around in my head but the majority of them require a little extra research and insight so I'm going to save them for a later date. For this month's post I decided to copy Allison (because twinning….duh) and focus on something that I have been Loving Lately: my transition to a primarily pescaterian and plant based lifestyle!

Hearts Delight

Mike and I had the profound honor of being asked to speak on the third night of the Hearts Delight Wine Tasting and Auction in Washington, DC. This was extremely monumental for us, as it marked the first time we were both featured patients, advocates, and speakers.

Fighting Fear with Gratitude

In tonight's post, I tackle what's been plaguing me for almost two months now: abject fear regarding my health and the uncertainty of the path it will take. Let me be completely honest – this is a very new feeling for me and I absolutely hate it. Sure I have wrestled with a plethora of emotions regarding my health: anxiety and depression surrounding the future, trauma from the past, a sense of loss over certain things (like the ability to biologically carry a child) but I have truly never really experienced any day to day consistent fear and panic. In fact, I was the complete opposite.

The Power of I: Intuition & Intention Setting

"Within every storm there is intention, strength, and beauty"

Ever since I was a little girl countless people have referred to me as an old soul. Being an old soul is often associated with having experience, wisdom, or a deeper understanding of the world around you. Am I an old soul simply because of all I have experienced, and been witness to, in my mere 29 years? Furthermore, many believe old souls are individuals who have learned from past lives or even incarnations.

To be totally honest with you guys, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to swing my Loving Lately post this month. The sh*t basically hit the fan last Friday night and our world blew up a little. Loving Lately has hands down been one of the best things about this year for me. I take writing for the blog very seriously and my writing process and timeline is usually pretty planned and precise. But this post? Well this post is going to be messy and raw and vulnerable and probably unedited.
